Long Island, N.Y., is preparing for the Ryder Cup 2025, a biennial golf tournament expected to bring a $160 million economic boost to the region, according to Realtor.com. The event is set to attract 250,000 visitors from around the world and is already driving a surge in hotel bookings and short-term rental demand.
Short-Term Rental Impact
AirDNA, a short-term rental data provider, reported that demand on Long Island is 87% higher than at the same time last year. Revenue in the host area — which includes Bay Shore, Brookhaven, Farmingdale, Babylon, Huntington, Islip, Patchogue, and Smithtown — has quadrupled year-over-year. For the week of the tournament, more than $2.1 million in short-term rental revenue has been booked, compared to $476,322 during the same week in 2024.
Farmingdale, home to Bethpage Black Golf Course, has seen a 607% increase in short-term rental revenue compared to last year. AirDNA data also highlighted spikes in nearby cities:

Some of the most expensive short-term rentals in Farmingdale have already been booked for the Ryder Cup. AirDNA identified three properties priced between $7,503 and $7,672 per night, each within a 15-minute drive of the golf course. One listing marketed itself exclusively for the Ryder Cup dates.
Hotels and Visitor Accommodations
Bethpage Black Golf Course, located in Farmingdale, about 40 miles from New York City, is surrounded by only 16 hotels, most of which are already sold out. Current nightly rates range from $900 to $1,000, according to the Long Island Association.
Tournament Overview
Bethpage Black will host 24 top golfers from the United States and Europe, including Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and Rory McIlroy. Unlike typical professional tournaments, the Ryder Cup is known for its U.S. versus Europe format, with national bragging rights on the line.
