Hub International and Player’s Health Announce Partnership to Provide Risk and Compliance Solutions for Amateur Sports Industry

Hub International Limited (Hub), a leading global insurance brokerage and Player’s Health, a risk management firm specializing in amateur sports, announced today a partnership to provide risk and compliance services to help organizations monitor and report injuries and abuse; establish protocols to mitigate risks; and improve the overall health and safety of athletes.

“Given recent high profile examples of abuse within amateur sports, there is a great need for them to monitor, enforce and comply with protocols on how to handle issues related to injury and abuse,” said Alan Hollingsworth, Senior Vice President, HUB Sports & Entertainment Specialty Practice. “With Player's Health, our clients will have access to a one-of-a-kind digital resource to assist them in their efforts to reduce risk and liabilities and more importantly, protect the athletes, themselves, and the future of sports.”

In the U.S., The Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 was signed into law in early 2018. Since then, real change and adoption has been gradual as many youth sports programs still lack the tools and resources to comply with the act. Similarly in Canada, the federal and provincial governments released strongly worded statements prioritizing actions to eliminate athlete harassment and abuse over the last year; however it will be difficult to effect real change for athletes without the proper tools.

Player’s Health’s Circle of Care Risk Management Suite is an interactive, digital risk management platform to quickly assess and provide guidance on the best care for the health and well-being of youth athletes. Circle of Care includes: background check services; injury protocols; rehab assignments; training session monitoring; and private, anonymous abuse and misconduct reporting. The platform also has a HIPAA compliant interface simplifying the flow of youth athlete health information between coach, parent and healthcare provider.

“We are extremely excited to partner with HUB, who not only shares our vision around making sports safer for youth athletes and amateur athletes, but is also dedicated to helping us extend that vision globally,” said Tyrre Burks, Founder and CEO of Player’s Health. “Together, we are committed to providing all sports organizations of any size, status and geography with risk services through challenging issues.”
