The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has announced the launch of its Minnesota Chapter, further strengthening its philanthropic efforts in the Midwest. This newest addition to the IICF Midwest Division will serve Minneapolis and the greater Twin Cities region, with a mission to support local communities through grants and volunteer initiatives focused on education, health, and safety.
Leadership Rooted in Service
At the helm of the new Chapter is Jennifer Gentry, Senior Vice President and Minneapolis Branch Manager at Chubb, who will serve as the Founding Chair of the IICF Minnesota Chapter Board of Directors. Gentry will lead a board composed of senior leaders from top insurance companies across the region. Their shared goal: to drive meaningful community impact by mobilizing the industry’s collective resources.
“I am proud to represent this exceptional group of insurance leaders as we extend the reach of IICF’s mission and impact,” said Gentry. “Each of the new board members is inspired to get started and give back to the community.”
A Unified Commitment to Giving Back
The Chapter’s inaugural board meeting focused on setting grant priorities and forming its Executive Committee. Key members include Vice Chair Michael Koelbl of Liberty Mutual, Development Co-Chairs Jamie Drugg of HUB International and Tom O’Donnell, and Grants Chair Jon Bauman of The Hanover.
Founding Board Companies span a wide spectrum of the industry and include Aon, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Burns & Wilcox, Chubb, CNA, HUB International, Integrity Insurance, Liberty Mutual, Marsh McLennan Agency, The Hanover, The Hartford, and Zurich.
A History of Impact, A Future of Growth
IICF has represented the insurance industry’s philanthropic efforts for over three decades, awarding $50 million in community grants and contributing more than 355,000 volunteer hours since 1994. Its growing presence includes four U.S. divisions and international branches in the UK and Canada—the latter launched in Toronto as IICF’s second global division.
Within the Midwest, the Minnesota Chapter joins the established Ohio and Heartland Chapters, making it the third in the region. Since its founding in 2012, the IICF Midwest Division has distributed more than $5.5 million in grants to over 200 nonprofits, with funding generated by events like the upcoming Midwest Gala 2025: Where Hope Grows, scheduled for May 1 in Chicago.
Uniting the Industry for Good
“The expansion into Minnesota demonstrates the industry’s ongoing commitment to making a positive and lasting difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Kelly Hartweg, IICF Midwest Executive Director. “Through IICF, we are able to achieve a greater collective impact.”
The Minnesota Chapter is a testament to the insurance industry’s dedication to service, and a promising step toward expanding the reach of charitable giving and volunteerism throughout the Midwest.
