Amaechi is a New York Times best-selling author and thought leader and advocate for workplace inclusion. Nunery is the author of a landmark study conducted with Marsh on African-American leadership in the insurance market. The fireside chat was part of IICF’s Inclusion in Insurance Series, focused on advancing ideas into action on diversity and inclusion and creating a fully inclusive future in the insurance industry.
Amaechi and Dr. Nunery discussed a wide range of compelling and current topics, including what lessons the insurance industry can take from the NBA relative to its success in advancing inclusion, how employees can feel empowered to speak up safely, who should be held accountable for diversity and inclusion initiatives at insurance companies and what constitutes an inclusive culture. They also answered thought-provoking questions from viewers throughout this interactive event.
“IICF was proud to host this impactful event featuring such inspiring leaders in diversity and inclusion as John Amaechi and Dr. Nunery,” said Betsy Myatt, IICF Vice President and Chief Program Officer. “We are confident that today’s attendees gained unique and valuable insight and will have left this event motivated and prepared to enact change within their ‘spheres of influence’ in the insurance industry and their communities at large.”
The event provided an excellent preview of the outstanding programming planned for IICF’s upcoming International Inclusion in Insurance Forum, taking place virtually from June 15 – 17. At the Forum, insurance industry leaders, D&I experts and leading innovators will gather to share valuable, actionable insights on diversity, inclusion and innovation. Proceeds from the event will benefit nonprofits and charitable organizations through the IICF Community Grants Program.
