IICF to Recognize Liberty Mutual with “Double I” Award at 17th Annual Northeast Benefit

IICF holds regional forums in June

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), a unique nonprofit organization dedicated to helping communities and enriching lives, will host its 17th Annual Northeast Benefit, a charitable gala and dinner supporting nonprofits across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut on Nov. 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The event convenes insurance industry leaders, celebrity speakers and nonprofit grantees for an evening celebrating philanthropic giving and achievement, all while raising funds for those in need.

At the 2023 IICF Northeast Benefit, IICF will recognize Liberty Mutual with the prestigious “Double I” award for their philanthropic dedication and commitment to supporting local communities while demonstrating industry leadership. IICF bestows the annual “Double I” award to prominent insurance organizations recognizing their Influence in the industry and Impact in the community. Kevin Smith, President, Global Risk Solutions North America at Liberty Mutual, will accept the award on behalf of the organization and its employees.

“Liberty Mutual is a longtime philanthropic leader and an incredibly deserving recipient of the “Double I” award for their commitment to volunteerism and charitable giving,” said Elizabeth Myatt, Vice President, Chief Program Officer and Executive Director of the IICF Northeast Division. “IICF is proud to partner with leaders like Liberty Mutual that inspire and encourage businesses and individuals alike to support those in need throughout our communities.”

The 2023 event features the return of celebrity guest speaker Pete Alonso, First Baseman for the New York Mets. Alonso is a three-time MLB all-star, a two-time Home Run Derby champion, a former single season home run and RBI leader and the 2019 National League Rookie of the Year. Alonso is the founder of the Alonso Foundation, a nonprofit providing essential support and funding addressing critical needs in our region including supporting youth, animal welfare and veterans through advocacy, grant-making and programming.

“At this year’s Northeast Benefit, which has become a New York insurance industry holiday tradition, we are excited to gather the insurance community in celebration of the collective philanthropic impact of IICF,” said John Gambale, Chair of the IICF Northeast Division Board of Directors. “IICF proudly serves as a unifying voice of our industry’s charitable efforts and we look forward to giving back to our neighbors in need.”

Proceeds from the annual IICF Northeast Benefit funds local nonprofits supporting education, people in need and the environment. IICF’s Northeast Division has awarded over $11.8 million in grants since its founding in 2007 to over 350 nonprofits and charities across the Northeast region. This year, proceeds will benefit IICF Community Grants to:180 Turning Lives Around, The Alonso Foundation, East Side House, Freedom House, Friends of Karen, Fulfill, Horizons at Sacred Heart University, Mount Kisco Child Care Center, NAMI NYC, Reading Partners, Riverkeeper, Table to Table and WomenRising. In addition, the Division has given 10 additional grants outside the metropolitan area that were nominated by agents and brokers who live and work in those communities.
