The new unit will be led by General Manager Rosa Flores, who joins Liberty Mutual Reinsurance from her role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Green Mex, an agribusiness technical consultancy.

Prior to this, she worked for re/insurance broker Willis Towers Watson as Head of Treaty for Mexico. She has more than 18 years of experience in the Mexican marketplace, with a specialist focus on agribusiness and catastrophic perils.

In her new role, she will report to Jose Ernesto Ospina, Latam Regional Manager in Colombia and will work closely with the firm’s underwriting team in Europe and Colombia.

The underwriting team in Mexico will offer property, casualty, and specialty treaty reinsurance solutions, which will be underwritten by Liberty Mutual Re in Europe.

Head of Business Development at Liberty Mutual Re, Miguel Martinez, said: “Mexico is the largest reinsurance market in Latin America. Liberty Mutual Re did not have local representation for treaty reinsurance business until now, and establishing a local operation within Lloyd’s shows our commitment to our Mexican clients and the importance we place on this market.

“It will add to our presence in Brazil and Colombia in the region. We have known Rosa for a number of years and are delighted that she has joined LM Re to be our local representative for the Mexican and Central American Market.”
