During his time in the senate, he served on the Senate Banking Committee – where he actively prioritised insurance issues – and the Senate’s subcommittee on Science, Technology and Innovation.

Effective 6 February, the appointment closely follows calls from Lloyd’s Chief Executive Officer John Neal for the marketplace to win new U.S business as well as drive efficiency via the adoption of new technology.

Lloyd’s says Sununu’s appointment will provide vital U.S political and regulatory experience, while his ongoing interest in tech and innovation will help seize new opportunities in the digital world.

Currently acting as a senior policy advisor for international law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Sununu also holds office as a non-executive director for the publicly traded companies Boston Scientific Corporation and Afiniti.
