Managing General Agent Rokstone Launches Sports Practice

Managing general agent Rokstone has launched a sports personal accident practice to its roster, the company said.

The new division will be led by Graham Amato, an insurance veteran of more than three decades, whose experience includes both the Lloyd’s and company markets, Rokstone said in a blog post announcing the new division.

It will initially focus on four areas: accidental death; permanent total disablement; temporary total disablement; and medical expenses and repatriation, the company said.

“We have lots of experience disrupting underrepresented markets with highly responsive wordings and high levels of capacity, as well as attracting the talent needed to drive growth in niche areas quickly,” Gavin Dollings, chief underwriting officer of commercial, said in a statement.

The new practice will target both professional and amateur athletes and cover a range of sports ranging from football and motor sports to tennis and golf. Rokstone said it comes at a time when revenue and remuneration across sports have hit record highs.

“Whether you are a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, accidents can strike when you least expect them,” it said.

Managing general agent Rokstone has acquired a box at Lloyd’s in a three-year arrangement and has begun trading.

The international specialty (re)insurance MGA said in a statement it begins trading April 15, operated by underwriting teams across its property, marine, aviation, contingency, construction and energy portfolios. Acquiring a box gives brokers the opportunity to discuss specialty risks through face-to-face interactions with some of the London market’s leading underwriting talent, the company said.
