Otonomi.ai, a blockchain-enabled insurtech platform specializing in cargo delay protection, announced the completion of a USD $5 million Series A funding round on October 30, 2025. The oversubscribed round was led by Hivemind Capital, Rothschild & Co Asset Management, ATX Venture Partners, Portline Capital, and Hong Kong-based Cyberport Macro Fund. The funding aims to accelerate Otonomi’s global market expansion and enhance its AI-driven underwriting and supply chain capabilities.

Addressing a Global Market Gap

Cargo disruptions lead to approximately $50 billion in losses annually, yet traditional indemnity-based insurance solutions remain inefficient. Otonomi’s parametric approach addresses this challenge by offering instant, transparent payouts triggered by measurable delays. The company’s blockchain technology eliminates lengthy claim investigations, streamlining risk management for logistics providers and shippers.

Otonomi CEO and Founder Yann Barbarroux said the new investment “represents a unique accelerant to our rapid growth and to deploy our risk platform at scale,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to modernizing outdated industry practices.

Technology and Platform Features

Otonomi’s proprietary platform integrates data analytics, smart contracts, and digital payment systems to deliver real-time cargo risk pricing and automated claims processing. The system draws from multiple data sources—such as weather trends, port congestion, carrier performance, and geopolitical risks—to generate precise risk assessments and pricing models. Its open API ecosystem enables seamless integration with logistics management systems for faster and more cost-effective operations.

Hivemind Capital Partner and Head of Ventures Emmanuel Vallod highlighted the company’s impact, stating that Otonomi “brings long-overdue modernization to this critical layer of payment infrastructure, leveraging AI, smart contracts, and stablecoins on blockchain to deliver compliant cargo risk solutions at scale.”

Strategic Growth Initiatives

The Series A funding will support four main initiatives:

  • Geographic expansion: Growing operations across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
  • Product development: Enhancing the AI-powered underwriting engine and extending parametric coverage options.
  • Strategic partnerships: Strengthening ties with logistics providers, freight forwarders, and enterprise shippers.
  • Team growth: Expanding engineering, underwriting, and business development teams in key markets.

Industry Recognition and Visibility

Otonomi’s work has been recognized at major insurtech and logistics conferences, including the MENA Tech Summit in Doha, the Intermodal conference in São Paulo, and the CMA CGM innovation event in Marseille. The company has also received attention from leading venture capital firms and industry publications for its efforts to modernize commercial insurance.

Charles-Edouard Bilbault, Portfolio Manager at Rothschild & Co Asset Management, said, “We are thrilled to invest in Otonomi as they lead the charge in transforming the insurtech landscape for supply chain and logistics. Their innovative use of AI and smart contracts not only streamlines processes but also unlocks new opportunities for growth.”

Expanding Coverage and Capabilities

Otonomi plans to extend its parametric insurance offerings beyond cargo delays to include risks such as temperature excursions for pharmaceuticals and food, security breaches, and environmental compliance.
