In this new volunteer insurance program, administered by CIMA, customers purchasing accident medical, volunteer liability or excess automobile liability insurance are entitled to discounts on volunteer background screening, payroll processing, credit card processing, state charity registration, Web-based volunteer scheduling, and more. Two of the discount programs—dental and vision plans, and pet insurance—can be offered to volunteers themselves as a thank-you for their service.
“We have found that offering discounts on quality products and services not only saves money for nonprofits, it also saves them the time they otherwise would spend vetting providers,” said William Henry of Volunteers Insurance Service Association (VIS). “From the point of view of an agent, mentioning the discount program makes the sale of volunteer insurance even easier.”
In addition to the discounts, customers may also enjoy free access to an online vehicle safety training program designed specifically for volunteers who use their personal vehicles in their assignments. The program was developed by VIS and the National Volunteer Transportation Center.
The VIS Website, www.visvolunteers.com, is on Neilson Marketing Services’s Agency Tsunami platform.
