Hartford Names VP of Strategy for P/C Operations

The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. has announced the appointment of Kevin D. Sanborn as vice president of strategy for its property-casualty operations. In this position, Sanborn will report to Sean Fitzpatrick, senior vice president for strategic business development and will head The Hartford's P&C strategic initiative group.

"Kevin brings outstanding experience from a career in management, consulting and finance that will add new thinking to The Hartford's leadership team," said Neal S. Wolin, president and chief operating officer of property-casualty operations. "I look forward to working with him to formulate and execute our company's strategic agenda across all of our segments and functions."

Sanborn's career began at Goldman Sachs before joining Bain & Co., the global management consulting firm, in 1994. At Bain, Sanborn provided strategic advice to leaders of Fortune 500 companies. His work included efforts to drive organic growth strategies for financial services clients, evaluating e-commerce investment opportunities for private equity and helping consumer products companies identify cost savings, pricing opportunities and new product initiatives. He also led a pro-bono effort to develop a strategy with Boston Mayor Tom Menino's office to expand and improve after-school program offerings for city students.

Sanborn comes to The Hartford most recently from Thomson Healthcare where he has served as executive vice-president since 2006. Previously, he was president of the life sciences division of Millipore Corp., a global biosciences company.

Sanborn received an MBA from Dartmouth and graduated from Bowdoin College. He will reside in Simsbury, Conn. with his wife and two sons.
