Zurich Looking to Increase Domestic Energy Business
Zurich, one of the world’s largest property-casualty insurance companies, today announced that its Domestic Energy Casualty business unit has increased its presence on the West Coast and also is looking to write more business on the East Coast and in the Midwest, with a goal of building its book of business in all these regions.
“Zurich has provided strategic risk management solutions for the energy market for a long time. While we already had a sizeable book of business in these regions that was developed from our Houston office, we needed a better market presence in these areas,” said Kenneth Kovar, head of Zurich’s Domestic Energy Casualty business.
“By relocating West Coast operation’s management to our Glendale, Calif. office, we are providing better service to our existing customers and distributors, and will be able to maximize Zurich’s market share in the region. We are also targeting growth areas on the East Coast and in the Midwest.”
Dawn Aitcheson, underwriting team leader, relocated to Glendale and is responsible for Zurich’s marketing presence in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Aitcheson has been with Zurich for more than five years and has more than 20 years of underwriting and managerial experience at companies including Ranger Insurance Co., Kemper and The Hartford.
In addition to increasing its proximity to West Coast customers, Zurich Domestic Energy Casualty is also targeting growth on the East Coast and in the Midwest, under the supervision of Renata Esposito, underwriting team leader in the New York office. Esposito oversees business in 24 states: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Zurich Domestic Energy Casualty provides casualty risk solutions for companies involved in oil and gas, petrochemical, natural resources, mining and power industries virtually worldwide. Solutions range from primary workers’ compensation, commercial general liability (CGL), auto liability and physical damage programs to high-limit umbrella and excess liability insurance.
