For the month of July, total nonfarm payrolls increased by a seasonally adjusted 92,000 to 138.122 million, taking into account the revised June gain of 126,000 (previously 132,000). On a year-to-year basis, growth in July eased to 1.3% from 1.5% in June.

Moving in concert with the nonfarm measure, the 1.9% annual growth in July’s insurance payrolls eased from 2.0% in June. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports total insurance industry payrolls on a seasonally adjusted basis, along with the current month’s nonfarm payrolls. Separately, the Bureau provides data by industry segment — broken out by various insurance carrier and noncarrier categories — only on an unadjusted basis for the prior month.
