“AIA applauds Commissioner Burnes and the Patrick Administration for moving the state’s auto system toward competition,” said John Murphy, vice president, AIA Northeast Region.
According to the letter released by the Commission’s office yesterday, the decision’s will result in introducing managed competition to the auto insurance market which should ensure that consumers with good driving records will enjoy lower rates and will permit insurers more flexibility to introduce flexible and competitive products to betters serve their customers.
“The Commissioner’s decision is the auto insurance equivalent of taking down the Berlin Wall. Massachusetts drivers will now have the opportunity to share in the choice and benefits of competition like their neighbors in the rest of the country.
“AIA looks forward to working with the Division and other stakeholders on making this a smooth transition for consumers and insurers,” Murphy concluded.
