The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), a nonprofit dedicated to uniting the insurance industry in community service, proudly announces the launch of its second international division: IICF Canada. Based in Toronto, the new division is set to drive charitable impact across Canadian communities. Leading this initiative is Sarah Gladki, named the Founding Executive Director.

With extensive experience in the nonprofit sector and a deep commitment to community engagement, Gladki is poised to shape the future of IICF’s presence in Canada.

“Over my career, I’ve witnessed the power of community to make positive social change,” said Gladki. “This is what excites me about IICF Canada: connecting insurance professionals and companies through a collective vision for charitable giving, volunteerism, and leadership.”

Industry Leadership Behind IICF Canada

IICF Canada is backed by a powerhouse board of senior leaders from top insurance organizations across the region. Marc Lipman, President of Lloyd’s Americas and Attorney in Fact in Canada for Lloyd’s Underwriters, serves as the Founding Chair of the IICF Canada Board of Directors. He is joined by Sandra Henkel, Independent Board Director at Tokio Marine Canada, Ltd., who serves as a strategic advisor.

Founding board companies and members include:

  • Allianz Commercial – Nancy Costa
  • Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance – Andrew Knight
  • Burns & Wilcox – Patricia A. Chiodo
  • CNA – Erin Gattoni
  • Lloyd’s – Marc Lipman
  • Markel – Jeff Sutton
  • Northbridge Financial Corporation – Anchal Kumar

Companies that join the board by 2025 will be recognized as Founding Board Companies, marking their commitment to shaping IICF’s impact in Canada.

“It’s a privilege to collaborate with such exceptional leaders as we bring IICF’s mission to Canada,” said Lipman. “Together, we’re committed to serving the communities where we live and work—starting in Toronto and expanding across Ontario and beyond.”

Building Momentum: Vision, Values, and Impact

Following an exploratory meeting in March 2025, IICF Canada was officially formed in June with the confirmation of its initial board and the announcement of its key grant focus areas: addressing food insecurity and supporting at-risk children.

IICF’s global footprint includes four U.S. divisions (Midwest, Northeast, Southeast, and West) and a thriving UK division—now celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since its inception in 1994, the foundation has awarded over $50 million in community grants and contributed $12 million in volunteer service value, partnering with more than 1,000 nonprofit organizations.

What’s Next for IICF Canada?

The new division plans to host its first fundraising and networking event this fall, inviting industry professionals to collaborate and contribute to the foundation’s mission.

IICF Canada also welcomes partnerships with ongoing community efforts already supported by the Canadian insurance industry.
