Dear Colleagues:

Hurricane Katrina has brought much destruction upon the Southeastern United States, and in its wake, many lives have been lost and millions are in dire need. Damages suffered in the hurricane may have made Katrina the most costly natural disaster in the country’s history.

It is clear that we are facing a recovery effort that will last a very long time. AIG and its employees have a long-standing tradition of reaching out and giving to those who have been affected by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina. One of the primary ways we do this is through the AIG Disaster Relief Fund, and as the rebuilding and recovery from Katrina begins, we plan to continue our tradition in this way.

AIG is donating $1 million to the AIG Disaster Relief Fund to help support Hurricane Katrina recovery and humanitarian efforts. These funds will be given to organizations throughout the battered region that we believe will be able to use them most efficiently and effectively to provide much needed relief.

In addition, employees who would like to make a contribution to the AIG Disaster Relief Fund and participate in this effort may do so. Employee donations to the fund will be matched 100 percent by AIG.

To contribute, please make your check out to “AIG Disaster Relief Fund—Hurricane Katrina” and mail to the Fund’s administrator as follows: Edward T. Cloonan, AIG Disaster Relief Fund, 70 Pine Street, 36th Floor, New York, NY 10270.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

MARTIN J. SULLIVAN
PRESIDENT AND CEO OF AIG
