As editor of ProgramBusiness.com I was privileged to attend the event, and I have to tell you I was humbled and proud by the important work that the Foundation and our industry is doing. Two specific charities, Cystic Fibrosis of Orange County and The Weingart Center Association, were honored at the event, and spoke about how much it means to them to have IICF’s support. We heard first-hand from the charities that are awarded money from the Foundation’s fundraising and donations how vital it is to their existence – whether it’s working towards a cure for cystic fibrosis or helping to combat poverty and break the cycle of homelessness.
What’s more, the IICF brings together thousands of industry volunteers to help make a difference in people’s lives by working at soup kitchens and at local food banks, cleaning up beaches and neighborhoods, providing support at senior assistance living facilities and youth centers, and much more.
IICF's commitment in bringing the collaborate efforts of reinsurers, insurers, agents and brokers, industry partners, and employees to support programs at the local level is working toward changing and enriching lives of those who are in need and less fortunate than we are. As one of the brokers told me at the event, "this is so important, especially in this tough economy, we all realize how necessary it is to continue our efforts."
The people who are a part of IICF are compassionate and truly represent what can be accomplished when we come together as an industry and as a community to help others. I encourage you all to join IICF in its efforts. I know I’m volunteering. You can find out more information at www.iicf.org.
