IICF holds future of work reform

Eric J. Andersen, President of Aon, was honored with IICF’s Golden Horizon Award. Presented by Aon’s Chief People Officer, Lisa Stevens, this annual award recognizes an individual within the insurance community who has demonstrated philanthropic excellence and leadership. Andersen is actively involved with the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (FACI), as well as the Insurance Development Forum (IDF). He sits on the board of trustees of Colgate University and is a board member of Covenant House New Jersey, which helps homeless, at-risk and runaway youth. “It’s an honor to receive this recognition, but what’s most important is the impact we are making on our communities,” Andersen said. “The role we all collectively play in helping businesses and communities prepare for risks and mitigate loss in the face of increased volatility greatly contributes to a more resilient and inclusive future.”

Proceeds from the 2022 Western Division Horizon Award Gala benefit the IICF Community Grants Program in the West, which supports regional charities focused on children at risk, education and human services. Since 2014, IICF’s Western Division has granted more than $3.7 million to hundreds of nonprofits. Currently more than 150 insurance industry leaders across the Western states contribute to our communities through IICF as board members of the IICF Western Division, Northern and Southern California Associate Boards, Chapter boards in Arizona, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest, and regional steering committees.

“Being a part of this industry joining together in support of our nonprofit partners is an extraordinary experience, and we are grateful for the generous contributions by the insurance community in the Western states, our sponsors and all those who give selflessly to help others in need,” said Kurt Stemmler, Chair of the IICF Western Division Board of Directors and Senior Vice President & San Francisco Branch Manager, Chubb. “Through dedication to our focus areas in the IICF Western Division, we are able to make a significant and broad impact in local communities by helping children and families throughout Arizona, California, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest – an impact that is much greater when we unite through IICF.”

Thursday evening also included a presentation by Jacqueline Castillo, Founder and President of featured nonprofit Legacy Ladies, Inc., accompanied by two first generation college-bound students sharing the personal impact of IICF community grants. Legacy Ladies, Inc. is an IICF grant recipient that aims to transform the lives of disenfranchised young girls through academic and experiential programs.

“The 2022 Horizon Gala sell-out shows how motivated our local insurance community is to come together again in person to support nonprofit organizations that are addressing some of the most challenging needs in our communities,” said Melissa-Anne Duncan, Executive Director of the IICF Western Division. “We have many creative opportunities planned for the remainder of the year to give back to our neighbors in need as well, including the IICF Western Division Fill the Truck food drives, a concept that originated in our Arizona Chapter and has helped to deliver more than 700,000 meals over the past three to combat food insecurity.”

The 2022 Horizon Award Gala was made possible by Aon as the Platinum sponsor along with many generous sponsors including:

  • Gold sponsors: CNA and Chubb
  • Silver sponsors: Amwins, Blue Shield of California, Confie, Gallagher, Hub, Liberty Mutual, Lockton, RT Specialty, The Surplus Line Association of California, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, The Liberty Company Insurance Brokers, Travelers and Willis Towers Watson
