Shevlin brings several decades of leadership success in the insurance industry along with philanthropic commitment to the community to his new role. As Georgia Chapter Board Chair, he will continue to diversify and broaden board segments of the industry, expand and strengthen the IICF Georgia Associate Board partnership and grow the chapter’s new annual benefit event and fall fundraiser, with continued visibility and positioning of IICF in the industry and community. He succeeds Amie Meschi, Executive Vice President, Peachtree Special Risk Brokers, who led the Atlanta insurance community to become the leading contributor in the IICF Southeast Fill the Truck food drive campaign, donating 9,000 pounds of food to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
At Chubb, Shevlin is responsible for strategic direction on a regional basis, and overseas the regional production plan, distribution, product sales and marketing, producer and staff management and general operations throughout the Southeast. Shevlin is a recognized force in the insurance industry due to his diverse background in sales, marketing, management and e-commerce.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our local communities in Greater Atlanta and beyond, along with our dedicated Georgia Chapter members who make it a priority to give back to our neighbors in need,” said Shevlin. “With demands on food banks and other nonprofits greater than ever, now is the time for us to focus on expanding IICF’s reach in combatting food insecurity, helping to provide some sense of security and support to children at risk, and making an impact in many meaningful ways.”
Shevlin earned his B.S. in Business Management from the University of Massachusetts at North Dartmouth and did his M.B.A work at Nichols College in Dudley, MA. In addition to leading the IICF Georgia Chapter, he also recently rejoined the board for FOCUS (Families of Children Under Stress) and has served as board member and past Chairperson for Georgia State University’s Risk Management Foundation.
Shevlin takes the helm as the Georgia insurance community celebrated industry philanthropy and raised vital funds for local nonprofit partners at the recent inaugural Georgia Chapter Gala. A special element of the evening was honoring Jim Bailey, CEO of Sterling Seacrest Pritchard, with the Philanthropic Leadership Award. A founding member of the Georgia Chapter, Bailey has more than 30 years in the insurance industry and a passion for giving back. He has consistently supported area nonprofits including the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House, mentored industry peers and led the chapter’s fundraising efforts.
“Working side by side, these phenomenal insurance industry leaders serve on the IICF Georgia Chapter with the ultimate goals of giving back to those in need, providing opportunities for their employees to give back as well and volunteer, and participate in our many IICF initiatives, making them their own in the Atlanta region,” said Sarah Conway, Executive Director of IICF’s Southeast
Division. “Looking ahead, we are very excited to welcome Jim Shevlin as our new Chair and for the future of the Georgia Chapter.”
IICF’s Southeast Division Georgia Chapter comprises 23 board members dedicated to serving communities throughout Georgia. In the last five years, the Georgia Chapter has awarded more than $750,000 in grants to various nonprofit partners and helped to deliver 576,000 meals to neighbors struggling with hunger through the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
