Chartered insurance broker Konsileo has announced the appointment of Joe Zuk to its board of directors, marking the company’s third non-executive board member. Zuk brings with him a lengthy background in insurance, operations, and investment, including leadership roles in reinsurance, managing general agents (MGAs), and corporate development.

Professional Background

Joe Zuk began his career as a broker in New York, gaining experience in both treaty and facultative property and casualty (P&C) reinsurance across U.S. and international markets. His career has included roles as:

  • Managing Director of Corporate Strategy and Development at Orchid Underwriters
  • Pioneer of a segregated cell captive reinsurance facility
  • Board Manager at Atlas General Holdings, where he oversaw the development of commercial P&C lines and property catastrophe divisions

He is currently an operating partner at Altamont Capital Partners (ACP), a U.S.-based private equity firm. In this role, Zuk serves as a board member or advisor to several insurance companies, including those with a presence in the UK. His appointment to Konsileo’s board is independent of his position at ACP.

Konsileo’s Growth and Strategy

Konsileo has grown to approximately £70 million in gross written premium (GWP) through organic expansion. Its business model emphasizes recruiting experienced commercial brokers and fostering a collaborative, learning-focused work culture. The company positions itself as a trusted risk adviser to small and mid-sized businesses and avoids issuing placement mandates to brokers.

Technology has been a central pillar of Konsileo’s expansion. The firm has built its own trading platform and implemented targeted artificial intelligence tools to improve both operational efficiency and client service outcomes.

Leadership Commentary

John Warburton, Founder and CEO of Konsileo, welcomed Zuk’s appointment, emphasizing the value of his dual experience as an insurance operator and investor. Warburton noted that Zuk’s insight will support Konsileo’s ongoing growth and operational improvements.

In a statement, Zuk highlighted Konsileo’s “remarkable organic growth” and its differentiated brokerage model, which he said stands out in an industry often focused on mergers and acquisitions. He also acknowledged the firm’s blend of culture, talent, and proprietary technology as a driver of its success.

Board Composition

With Zuk’s addition, Konsileo’s board now includes:

  • Judy Welch (Investor Director)
  • Geoff Lloyd (Human Resources Executive from FTSE 100 companies)
  • Joe Zuk (Independent Non-Executive Director)

This expanded board reflects Konsileo’s strategic emphasis on governance and oversight as it scales within the UK market and potentially beyond.
