Racicot Leaving AIA as CEO, Leigh Ann Pusey His Successor
Evan Greenberg, Chairman of the American Insurance Association (AIA) and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Limited, on Friday issued the following statement announcing that Governor Marc Racicot will leave his position, effective February 1, 2009, after having served more than three years as president and chief executive officer of the nation’s leading property-casualty trade association. Racicot will be succeeded by Leigh Ann Pusey, currently the organization’s chief operating officer and senior vice-president for government affairs.
"Governor Racicot has worked diligently and effectively representing the property-casualty insurance industry over the last three and a half years, continuing AIA's role in advocating for a strong and healthy property-casualty industry. "During his tenure, he has worked with Leigh Ann Pusey and the AIA senior management team, in pursuit of opportunities to better position AIA to respond to the challenges facing the industry.
"In keeping with his strong leadership commitment, Governor Racicot has made a number of important management and reorganization proposals to the AIA Board of Directors, which the Board has endorsed. One of those proposals calls for a realignment of AIA management and a change of leadership.
"As we express our gratitude to Marc for his service to the organization, we are proud to announce the appointment of Leigh Ann Pusey as president and chief executive officer, effective February 1, 2009. Ms. Pusey has a proven 20-year track record of success in association leadership and public policy advocacy. She is consistently recognized and respected by industry leaders, administration officials, members of Congress and their staffs - from both parties - as one of the most effective, intelligent, and tireless advocates in Washington, DC.
"For more than a decade, Leigh Ann has been instrumental in guiding the strategic direction of AIA’s advocacy efforts in our nation’s capital and around the country. The transition to her new role as president and chief executive leaves the association well-positioned to continue its mission as the leading public policy advocate for the property-casualty insurance industry."
