Despite Rate Inadequacy, Texas Windstorm Insurer Committee Urges No Premium Increases

Fairfax, Virginia - March 3, 2018: A tree blown over during "Windmageddon", a long-lasting windstorm that crippled the Washington, D.C., metro area shutting schools and the Federal Government, crashed into this house and damaged it when the tree toppled over in the strong winds.

Despite a finding earlier this month that current rates are inadequate for both residential and commercial coverages, an underwriting committee for Texas’ windstorm insurer of last resort voted Monday not to recommend a rate increase for its policyholders.
