The Travelers Companies, Inc. has announced the launch of “Travelers Across America,” a nationwide initiative dedicated to restoring and strengthening historic landmarks in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States, this effort underscores Travelers’ long-standing commitment to enhancing community resilience.
“Travelers Across America is an expression of our enduring optimism in the American story — past, present and future,” said Alan Schnitzer, Chairman and CEO of Travelers. “By investing in the restoration and resilience of historic landmarks, we are honoring our country’s history, as well as the spirit of service and innovation that will carry us forward. That is what our business is about: protecting what matters today so we can continue building for tomorrow.”
As part of the initiative, Travelers will provide $1 million in grants to the National Trust to support the restoration of historic sites in California, Connecticut, Louisiana, and Minnesota. These sites — diverse in geography, history, and culture — share a common vulnerability to natural disasters.
Each location will host on-site programming and community service events, bringing together Travelers employees, National Trust partners, and local residents to advance the restoration efforts and support the broader resilience of these neighborhoods. These events will also underscore the importance of insurance access and affordability in sustaining thriving communities. “Travelers Across America reflects our commitment to civic engagement, especially at the local level,” said Janice Brunner, Head of Civic Engagement at Travelers. “As we celebrate our history, we are also strengthening the resilience of these communities for the next 250 years and beyond.
“By making accessible the many stories they hold, historic places foster a sense of connection with our global roots and with each other,” added Carol Quillen, President and CEO of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. “Reviving meaningful sites — the places where our history happened — both honors our national heritage as we look to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary and reminds us that the future is something we build together.”
Beyond the restoration projects, Travelers Across America will include ongoing events and programming throughout the year for Travelers employees, agents, brokers, and community members to commemorate this milestone anniversary.
